Common Issues

Microphone permission denied
Can't record because microphone access is blocked.

Transcrible needs microphone access to record voice notes. If you denied permission:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap “Transcrible”.
  3. Enable the Microphone toggle.
  4. Return to Transcrible and try recording again.

Transcription not working
Recording succeeds but the transcript is empty or inaccurate.

If transcription isn’t working correctly:

  • Check your internet connection if you are using Apple speech recognition.
  • Ensure the selected transcription language matches the language you’re speaking.
  • Try downloading a Whisper model for offline transcription.
  • Speak clearly and minimize background noise.
  • If using Whisper, confirm the model download completed successfully.
Whisper model download failed
Language model download stops, stalls, or reports an error.

If a Whisper model won’t download:

  • Use a stable Wi-Fi connection since models are large files.
  • Check that your device has enough free storage.
  • Pause and resume the download if the app offers that state.
  • Restart the app and try the download again.
  • Model files are hosted by Hugging Face, so temporary availability issues can happen upstream.
Cloud features not working
Summary or transcript-improvement requests fail.

If cloud improvement features aren’t working:

  • Verify that you have an active internet connection.
  • Check that cloud improvement is enabled in the app settings.
  • Ensure the transcript is not empty before requesting refinement.
  • Try again in a few moments in case the service is temporarily unavailable.
  • If the issue persists, contact support with the behavior you’re seeing.
